Lead 2 Read is a mentoring program that works in partnership with the Henderson County School System and the Henderson County Chamber of Commerce to achieve the school system’s goal of having all third grade students reading at grade level before moving on to fourth grade. Through Lead 2 Read, members of the community are paired with local elementary school students who are reading below grade level. These volunteers work one-on-one for an hour each week using targeted materials selected and provided by the child’s teacher. The participating school will work with you to set up a mentoring time that works for both you and your student.
